Growing up in Holland, Germany, Argentina and all over the United States, Jake Sargeant (MN8) developed a unique eye and taste for design. Self-taught in motion design after formal studies in graphic design & typography, Jake has spent the last decade cross-pollinating his conceptual design approach into feature films (Terminator Salvation, TRON Legacy, & Oblivion), high-end television spots (HP "Hands" celebrities campaign), and show titles (Emmy-nominated for House M.D. Opening Titles). Jake's unique and varied collaborations with code artists throughout his career prove what's possible when the right blend of design and programming talent come together to tell engaging stories for screens and experiences of all sizes. Jake is an avid photographer and filmmaker, tech enthusiast and fan of the beautiful game. He currently freelances and collaborates globally from sunny Portland, Oregon.

It didn't take long to realize how inspiring the Instagram social network could be from photographer friends to others whose work I admire. And the fact it got bought by Facebook for $1 billion just proved how insanely smart, well-timed and executed the whole app is. Shooting in square format is also a great compositional exercise.
